Lucas Chancel is an economist specializing in global inequalities and the ecological transition. In 2023-2024, he is a Visiting Professor at Harvard University’s Kennedy School. He is an Associate Professor with tenure at Sciences Po, where he is part of the Center for Research on Social Inequalities and the Department of Economics. He also co-directs the World Inequality Lab at the Paris School of Economics (PSE).
Lucas holds a PhD in Economics from EHESS/Paris School of Economics and an Habilitation to Direct Research from Université Paris 1. His academic background includes a Master’s in Energy Science from Imperial College London and a Master’s in Economics and Public Policy from Sciences Po, École Polytechnique, and ENSAE. His research is widely recognized, with coverage in international media such as Science, Nature, The New York Times, and Le Monde.
